Located on south-west coast of Taiwan, Kaohsiung is the island’s second largest city, with a population of roughly 2.7 million people. Its warm climate and coastal position make Kaohsiung an attractive destination all year round. Divided into four sightseeing routes to suit all tastes, the guide makes Kaohsiung accessible for any newcomer to the city. The tourism guide is attached and can be downloaded through the link at the bottom of the page.

Kaohsiung is first and foremost a port city. In fact, between 1993 and 2000, Kaohsiung ranked as the world’s third largest port in terms of container volume. Today, the city harbour is undergoing a transformation from an industrial hub to ‘Asia’s New Bay Area’. The city’s redevelopment is part of Taiwan’s aim to promote Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability (LOHAS).

In the heart of the harbour stands Kaohsiung’s impressive Exhibition Centre, the first destination for trade show visitors to Kaohsiung.

Whether you are attending a trade show in Kaohsiung or just visiting for pleasure, make sure you read this essential guide before you go.
